Massimo Moretti received a master's degree and a doctorate from the Bari University in 1993 and 1997, respectively. He did postdoctoral research in sedimentary Geology at Bari University, from 2000 to 2001. He is currently working as an associate professor at dipartimento di Scienze della Terra e Geoambientali, Università degli Studi di Bari.

Prof. Massimo Moretti received the Excellence Paper Award (Journal of palegeography - 2020) and the Excellence Review of Elsevier (2014). He is a member of the editorial boards of Sedimentary Geology, Geologos and Journal of Palaeogeography.
