Piotr Krzywiec
Piotr Krzywiec holds an M.S. in geology and an M.S. and Ph.D. in exploration geophysics. He studied at the Jagiellonian University and the AGH University of Science and Technology, both in Kraków, Poland, and at Imperial College, London, UK. Having spent 16 years at the Polish Geological Institute in Warsaw, in 2012 he joined the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, where he holds the position of professor and head of the Seismic Interpretation & Basin Analysis Research Group. Piotr Krzywiec is lecturer in geophysics/seismic methods at the Jagiellonian University, Kraków, and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, and lecturer for the AAPG Visiting Geoscientist Program within which he visited universities in Europe, USA and China. His main research interests include integrated analysis of geophysical and geological data, basin analysis, tectonics, seismic stratigraphy, application of geophysical methods in exploration for conventional and unconventional hydrocarbons, and the history of Earth sciences. Piotr Krzywiec has authored or co-authored more than 400 papers, book chapters and conference abstracts published in Poland and abroad. He is a member of the Polish Geological Society (also a secretary of the Section on History of Geological Sciences), Polish Geophysical Society, American Association of Petroleum Geologists (currently co-chair of the AAPG Visiting Geoscientist Program), Society of Exploration Geophysicists, International Society of Paleogeography, Petroleum History Institute, International Commission on the History of Geological Sciences (INHIGEO), History of Earth Sciences Society, and of the History of Geology Group of the Geological Society of London.
